Jochanan works as a researcher, writer and speaker about themes such as ethics, economy and future thinking. He wrote 'robot aan het stuur', a book about the ethics in technology.
Technology is the engine behind economic bloom and social changes. Innovations create new markets, improve production and services. In short, they make life easier. But technology isn't neutral. It influences our behavior, our thinking and sometimes even our moral beliefs. Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, and advanced robots have caused for technology to function more and more independent.
How will artificial intelligence change our lives? Until which point should we let technology make decisions? How can we make technology consider human values? More than ever we have to think ahead about the moral aspects of technological change.
As co-founder of Braingineers, neuro-psychologist Roderick Reichenbach, is specialized in the subconscious of the human brain. Braingineers uses the latest technologies to map how people subconsciously make (purchase) decisions.
Braingeneers developed a technology, based on neuroscience and AI, to make our subconscious experiences visible. The technology exposes bottlenecks on websites (online usability) and TV commercials, but also measures the customer experience of products and services. This results in a more effective communication, and an increase in conversion of touch points and campaigns.
Deevid is the co-founder of Belgian start-up Brainjar, a machine learning "as a service" company. He has a background in computer science and experience as an AI-engineer at CRAFTWORKZ. Brainjar translates state-of-the-art machine learning into production applications.
"May you live in interesting times" is an old Chinese curse, indicating the chaos and destruction that is accompanied by periods of sudden change. And these are indeed interesting times! We live in times of accelerating, scientific progress, and it is certain that new technologies will determine the course of our future. At the top of the list of technologies with the potential to change our world is an idea that actually already exists for a long time: Artificial Intelligence, or AI.
But what is AI? Why is it suddenly such a hot topic? And specifically where is AI going? Are we doomed to perish in our own creation or are we going towards a utopian future that surpasses our wildest dreams? In this talk Deevid deals with the past, present, but especially the future of artificial intelligence.
